At First Impressions Dental, we understand that for many patients seeking dental treatment can be a nerve-racking experience. For those individuals experiencing anxiety before dental treatment we offer nitrous oxide or oral conscious sedation.
Nitrous oxide sedation (“Laughing gas”) is administered by a mask along with oxygen to a patient. Within minutes the patient will feel more relaxed and still be able to answer questions and provide feedback. After the nitrous oxide is discontinued the patient is fully awake and aware within minutes.
Oral sedation is provided by prescription medication administered the night before and on the day of the dental treatment. This is a stronger type of sedation that relieves anxiety and nervousness. Patients will require a family member or friend to accompany them before and after the dental treatment.
