Tooth Grinding Habit

Tooth grinding or clenching is a very common occurrence. On most occasions, this habit is unknown to the patient and can often be detected at the dental office for the first time. The most common solution is a protective appliance that is custom made to fit the upper or lower jaw, and acts as a barrier to protect the teeth from wear. Often times, a lifetime of wear along with excess forces on the teeth can cause TMJ (jaw-joint) pain, tooth fractures and facial muscle spasms.
